Even though I love the preceding seasons, I think Season 4 is still my favourite.It starts with one of my all time favourite episodes. Lazarus Rising provides some of the most fabulous images in any of SPN's history - Dean clawing his way out of the grave, that fabulous crane shot pulling up to show the blast site and the way Dean's shadow and the shadow of the wooden cross are highlighted, the shots of Dean walking down the road to the abandonned gas station, the image of Dean peering out of the broken windows, and those are just for starters in the first few minutes. Then of course, the most striking and memorable entrance for Castiel at the end of the episode, together with a masterful use of music - and that was without the whole gripping dialogue that shows us just how damaged Dean really is. God, it still brings tears to my eyes when Cas tells Dean Good things do happen and Dean says, Not in my experience. Then they just kill me with the whole You dont' think you deserve to be saved. Oh Dean.
I could wax lyrical about Lazarus Rising for this whole post, so I'll restrain myself.
Basically, there are four episodes I'm not that keen on - Metamorphosis, Family Remains, Chris Angel is a Douchebag and The Rapture, and even those have their merits. But this is the season that gave us On the Head of a Pin, Sex and Violence, It's a Terrible Life... it gave us messed up boys, great comedy moments, great sexy moments, a classic black & white Monster Movie... argh! so much goodness. All those awesome new characers - Pamela Barnes, Uriel, Ana, Zachariah...it's all too much.

ephermeralk!) can write the words, have some random pretty pictures.Powers Sam! So hawt!
Fighting Winchesters - also hawt!
Time travelling Dean - hawt...
Sleepy disoriented Dean - also hawt!
Boys in the Impala...where they belong
Seriously, the creepiest, scariest baddie SPN has ever produced
And one of the hardest scenes to watch (though now it's been repeated several times, so...) .The impact of watching this beating first time round was memorable (even for my goldfish brain!)
And so I don't leave you with that distressing sight, here's one of my fave shots from Lazarus Rising
And Monster Movie! Love B&W boys in suits. Guess what? They are HAWT!
I'll stop now, or this will end up like a vertical Bayeaux tapestry.

And Dean, poor Dean, oh wanna hug him so bad, you hit the nail on the head here...

Just to say I had 72 photos from it that I had to cull down to fit my S4 post! It was so hard to choose, definitely almost a Bayeaux Tapestry!
