yohkobennington and I were working on the same prompt for SPN_MEANTTOBE. Sadly yoko's muse has hit a bit of a brick wall with her fic, but hopefully inspriation will take fire again after a bit of a rest, and we will get to read the story later in the year...fingers crossed because the summary I worked from had lots of potential!

So the Harlequin prompt we both chose was this:

34. The Ghost of Castle Ravenswych

When Marcus Lord Cheyne takes possession of his inheritance, he is not expecting the castle to be haunted by a ghost—especially not such a beautiful ghost as Rowena. As for Rowena, her biggest problem is not that she is trapped within the walls of Castle Ravenswych, which she is, but that she is not, in fact, actually deceased…

Yoko's idea was - Jensen moves from Texas to a small town in New England after he inherits an old apple farm. He moves there to have space away from his family and find his way out of his depressing life. The farm is haunted by Jared, who grew up in it 100 years ago. He used to live with his grandmother, as his parents never accepted his choice of whom to fall in love. After his grandmother died, Jared was left alone and he disappeared days later.

But Jared isn't really a ghost, he was cursed to see time pass, and confined to the house until the curse is broken.

Jensen is the only one that can see Jared.

The technical stuff:
I drew and coloured the boys in Photoshop and PaintTool Sai using photo references. Jared's was a still from New York Minute. The ghostly hand is adapted from a photo I found on a google search, while the house was a photo yoko provided as her inspiration for Jensen's inheritance.

The paper effect is a cardboard texture I really like using. I wish I was good enough to be able to create watercolours on real paper!

Lovely work as always! The dim glow you've given Jared's hand is just perfect, and I am well and truly digging the apple in the "Jared" divider. How did you get the color texture to come out so perfectly? Great job!

I live weathered too. The frost cracking on my face is particularly fetching.

Seriously, I could use that cardboard texture all the time. I think I got them from Deviantart. Someone called lost&taken but of course I forgot to note exactly where. Doh.
