A Pair of Drabbles
Jan. 19th, 2014 09:22 pmA couple of season 9 drabbles
Blame
Word: nice
Warnings: Season 9 spoilers. Set in between Holy Terror and Road Trip.
Summary: Dean has some cleaning up to do after Gadreel’s dramatic exit from the Bunker...
He’s not sure how long he stays still, unable to look away from the ruin he’s made of a young life.
Long enough for his knees to fuse with the cold tiles. Long enough for the stench of burned flesh to seep into his soul and make his guts feel as though Gadreel is still twisting up his insides.
Not long enough for him to sink through the floor like he wants.
Eventually he has to move.
He finds a blanket, gathers Kevin up tenderly like the child the prophet was.
Watches the flames – a final destination for them both.

The Sound of Silence
Word: nice
Warnings: Season 9 spoilers. Set immediately after Road Trip ends.
Summary: Back in the bunker, Sam and Cas settle in with the consequences of Dean’s actions.
Castiel’s scrutiny weighs heavy. Sam doesn’t know how Dean coped with…no. Not thinking about Dean right now, if ever. Sam reaches for the whiskey, takes another gulp.
It doesn’t help. His mouth tastes of ozone and sulphur and something else he assumes is essence of Gadreel and Crowley, and that’s just too disturbing to contemplate.
He’s scoured out, hollow, but not clean. Never clean.
Well, there’s one good thing to come out of this whole crap-fest. The silence inside Sam’s head feels kinda nice.
There’s an empty space by his side and in his heart, but at least it’s peaceful.

Date: 2014-01-19 09:55 pm (UTC)*guh* Dean saying he'll burn for Kevin's death packed a punch - because he knows exactly what hell is like.
The silence inside Sam’s head feels kinda nice.
Oh yes. Good point - especially after having two of them in there.
These are both great. I'm still processing that last episode so it's great to read little moments like this.
Can't wait to see where they take it now.
