I just finally got round to watching Ty Olsen's Borealis - wow, but it was powerful good. I can't believe the station probably isn't going to run with it.  The whole cast of characters are engaging on a variety of levels, there is potential for lots of stories - and the setting is really cool (in every sense, being in the Arctic!). I really liked Vic's half Irish half Inuit laconic side kick.

If you haven't seen it yet, here it is, in full on Youtube.

Now I need to belatedly tweet my support.

I caught the pilot; gotta admit, Ty was the only part I reeeally liked. It felt like a watered-down Firefly to me. I haaaated Blogger Girl, or whatever her name was though admittedly, it's tough to nail characters in one small chunk of time. And yeah, I did like the side-kick. Reminded me a little of 'Northern Exposure', back in the day.

I'd probably give it another watch if they picked it up.

Actually, yes, laconic side kick was very Northern Exposure...but I'm easy to please, I liked everyone! I didn't get a Firefly feel from it, I thought it was too grounded on Earth and also didn't have the language/dialogue to make it Whedonish enough to remind me of Firefly. Also - no tight pants.
