Some random splurges from me before I watch again.
Damn it, they killed off Gabriel! I'm gutted!
And he totally had all the best lines in this one too
- Let's talk about the elephant in the room - not you (to Ganesh)
- Kali - she was all hands
Ok I realised straightaway he wasn't dead when Kali stabbed him - no wings! Interesting the reason was she hadn't used a real archangel's sword - so these swords (and there seem to be a lot of them around, and Cas has one) are not just mere 'angel killing swords' they are archangel killing swords?
They still haven't clarified if only angels can kill angels - maybe that was another reason Kali couldn't kill Gabriel - she isn't an angel. And that still leave it open as to why Dean could kill Zach...
Bit disappointed in the performance of the Norse Gods - Baldr was ineffectual though he did look pretty, and Odin should only have had one eye - though I liked his lines about the end of the world only coming when Fenris the Wolf eats him.
I liked Kali and her point about world religions was a throwaway line but well made - why should one religion's end of the world scenario take precedence over any others? Interesting question! Obviously they can't really explore that one much further are we have a Judeo Christian Lucifer and Horsemen to deal with but still...
On that point, Lucifer was magnificent - so creepy, sincere, evil, vile and sad. Loved the way they lit him so his eyes just looked like dark pits, all shadowed except right at the end when you caught a glimpse of his emotion as he stabbed Gabriel.
Sam didn't get too much to say this week - and what few lines he had were a bit Deanesque - we are so screwed..! I hope the next episodes will give him more to do but I am guessing from Gabe's parting shot about trapping Lucifer (hey, we all said ages ago they wouldn't be able to KILL the devil) is pointing to a possibly Sam-centric climax as per the spoilers for the season finale, don't you think?
Also while this was a lot of fun and had plenty of action, there wasn't so much opportunity for brotherly interaction - I'd have liked a bit more of that so again, hopefully next week.
The download version I watched was interrupted in the middle by a Ghostfacers trailer which was rather annoying/distracting.
Right. Now I really must get some work done - toodle pip all, catch you on the flipside.
