A Very Human Lesson

Castiel is really missing having someone call him Cas when he takes what he learned from the Winchesters back to Heaven….

The silence could be measured in a wingbeat.  Soft and slow and sorrowful.

 

Cas closed his eyes against the look on the Archangel’s face.  What was that he saw?  Regret?  Longing?

A tear?

 

He understood his own heart only too well.  Loneliness.  Sadness. Loss.  There was no pride in his new position, no happiness in returning home.  His siblings had thrown him out of heaven like so much trash, and it had taken two frail, flawed humans to show him what being family really meant.

 

Sighing, Cas enfolded Raphael in a warm embrace.
