The Girl Next Door - two drabbles
Oct. 10th, 2011 10:45 amI don't normally repost my drabbles here but, well. I am.
Wearing and Tearing
***********
E/O Drabble Challenge: word count 100.
Challenge : include a classic rock reference in title or text.
Warnings: Spoilers for Season 7 The Girl Next Door.
Summary: Dean knows he’s a killer, he knows what he has to do. It doesn’t mean he has to like it. Or himself.
***********
Dean looks into Sam’s earnest gaze, hears him say trust me, and thinks about it.
He does trust Sam. But this isn’t about Sam. It’s about a monster that has killed more than once because it was desperate, and Dean understands that.
Understands desperation.
Understands killing.
It starts out like a murmur
Then it grows like thunder
Until it bursts inside of you
Try to hold it steady…
Dean looks into Amy’s pleading gaze, hears her promise, but doesn’t think about anything at all as he slides the knife in.
Yeah, he’s trying to hold it together. Holding it steady.
***********
A/N: The lyrics are from Led Zeppelin’s Wearing & Tearing

Until it Sleeps

E/O Drabble Challenge: word count 100.
Challenge : include a classic rock reference in title or text. So I did both.
Warnings: Season 7 quotes, nothing plotty.
Summary: Lucifer is still inside his head but Sammy is fine. Really.
***********
“Yes, I’m still seeing crap that’s not real.”
Lucifer’s singing - nursery crimes rhyme.
“But I mean, I’m fine.”
Sammy Sammy sat on the wall
“I can tell the difference.”
Sammy Sammy had a great fall
“Trust me, Dean.”
And all Dean’s efforts
“You look at me like I’m a grenade and you’re waiting for me to go off.”
And all Bobby’s books
“But I’m managing it.”
Couldn’t put Sammy together again.
“I’m not normal, I’m a grade A freak.”
So tear me open pour me out
There's things inside that scream and shout…
Don’t let go of that pin, Sammy.
***********
A/N: In case you didn’t recognise them, the drabble title and lyrics used are from Metallica’s Load album.
The nursery rhyme Lucifer has adapted is of course, Humpty Dumpty. The last words could be Lucifer or Dean, I leave it to you to decide.
