This story is rather lovely, and really deserved something a bit better, but this was what happened instead.

This was a bit of a disaster - I had this really strong image in my head of what I wanted to do, but then lots of things conspired against me... my watercolour skills are not up to the challenge but I used watercolour pencils anyway, because I didn't take my watercolour tin away with me, then I used card to paint on instead of proper watercolour paper, then my laptop hard disk died and I didn't have access to Photoshop to salvage it... ha ha ha! So anyway, this has now been somewhat photoshopped thanks to a month's free trial, hence I could add the pretty leaves (a free clipart download), and some colour enhancement and shading has gone on. And test, of course.

Next time I do some art remind me NOT to choose profiles - again. You'd think I'd have got the hang of them by now

This is the original traditional piece, scanned and untrimmed.The edges are messy because I knew I would be getting rid of them. That's my excuse and I'm sticking to it!

Well I think these are excellent profiles. I'm not an artist, but I know what I like to look at and these two faces are excellent likenesses of the boys and very pretty to look at! Plus...all that computer drama...yikes. Excellent job!

I think you're being hard on yourself - considering the catalogue of disasters you faced, I think it came out very well!
It's interesting, but the first picture that you posted, of Dean, when I first glanced at it, I thought it was Sam. I saw it was Dean almost immediately afterward, but if you squint, you can see both brothers in that face!

Hey now, that's what the Quicky_Bang is for: to get inspired to try new things. To me the result looks great, but I understand having an image in your head that you can't quite capture. I already like the unedited version, but the colours you ended up with are really amazing and the added clipart is just the finishing touch this composition needed;)

The unedited version is a bit brighter in real life, the scanner leached the colours a bit - but thanks! I just need to stop having these overambitious ideas!

oh, amberdreams, I am completely mortified -- I didn't follow up because I knew you were having some troubles -- and I missed this! I am kicking myself, this is gorgeous! I can't but echo what others have said -- the profiles are a delight and instantly recognisable -- I particularly love the point of Sam's nose and his troubled eyes and that pensive, open, already-elsewhere expression on Dean's face is absolutely perfect for this fic. Beautiful work in difficult circumstances. I am so moved to have been part of it!

Aw that's ok! I hadn't tracked back to see if you'd responded and then I forgot about it. LOL
I'm looking at it now and wincing a bit; distance hasn't made my heart grow any fonder.
However!
I rarely post on tumblr (even less since the whole porn-scourge) but you've reminded me I didn't cross post this to AO3, so I've now done that!
