For this year's
wipbigbang I went for a fandom I've never worked on before - Overwatch - because the visuals for these characters are so cool. And I ended up with a cool story too, so that was a bonus. Thanks Pixial!

Main picture -
it's a stylised version of a scene from the first few pages of the story, so it's not really spoilery in terms of plot.

Ramblings of the arty kind:
There were a number of scenes in the story I could have illustrated, but I ended up only having time for one, and this was the first idea that I had. I wanted to do something in traditional media, and really wanted to do pen and ink. I trawled the internet for inspiration and found a whole series of fantastic illustrations by a Russian artist, using black, white and red. I'd already saved a bunch of amazing pen and ink drawings by Takehiko Inoue, and if I could ever draw like that I'd be SO damned happy. So long story short - I had the scene in my head, a bunch of ideas about how it could look, and ended up with this, which is very much not the style I'd thought about trying, but is at least pen and ink.
I am fairly pleased with how it turned out, though, surprisingly.
I drew in pencil first, then inked it. The pinky colour is watercolour, the frame is digital.
