I thought when this popped up in my inbox it was going to tell me May or June. Huh. Oh well, it does look good. I'm much more a fan of Newt than Harry Potter. Probably because he comes minus all the interminable teenage angst. Plus I can't help seeing Eddie Redmayne's Scamander as a potential Dr Who. LOL

Oh good, that should give me some time to plan a rewatch of the first part, which I saw from the first row in Imax, which is NOT a good way to see a 3D film; too overwhelming, I could hardly focus on the story for the massive amount of special effects!

I do like that we now reach the part in the Newt story where it crosses the Dumbledore timeline in Harry Potter, but I worry about Grindelwald looking cartoonish. Apparently that's what Johnny Depp gets hired to play these days. More subtlety would make for a more interesting villain in my opinion. The short glimpse we got of Grindelwald in the HP movie (and in the book) was fascinating, but I'd hate for him to be an over the top character:(

Johnny Depp is problematic these days, isn't he...though he was fine in Orient Express recently, so maybe it's just the material he's being given. Doesn't JK Rowling still have some influence? If so, I bet she'll be pressuring for a more understated performance.
