I did a blue version of the banner too
The story is based on the film Passenger. I never got to see it apart from trailers, so the art is mainly influenced by this SPN version. I did some visual research on the movie, which is reflected mainly in the art deco theme I went with in the banner and divider.
Scene one - Dean alone on the Impala. I did this one last, but it was an image I'd had in my head from reading the first draft.
Scene Two - Dean visiting the cryopods where the rest of the crew still sleep, lingering at Sam's pod
A paragraph/chapter divider completes the set.
Processy bits:
I drew Sam in soluble graphite pencil then went over it with fountain pen ink which was less than successful, so I was happy when PS saved me. I photographed the drawing then painted Sam, added several layers for the glass and the surrounds of the pod. The glass was the hardest part - it has a bokeh and a raindrop texture added. Hopefully he looks frozen!

Dean in the hall/corridor was simpler. I found a free 'empty hall' background, drew Dean walking in pencil and ink, photographed it, overlaid it on the background then painted in Dean's clothes, face etc.
