The view from our breakfast room in Lincoln...

So we can try and spot the peregrine falcons while having our toast and marmalade in honour of Michael Bond and Paddington Bear.
Also...
gratuitous shots of the cathedral at night, and inside the roof area. I did a roof tour yesterday, which was fascinating.

The wonky arches - they look very much more misaligned from up here than they do from the ground!

Bell ropes that we didn't touch so (hopefully) didn't upset the poor bells

Castle on the right, with the cathedral from an angle that makes it look like the towers are all the same height.

The light is partly sunset, and partly floodlighting.

There are so many gorgeous and interesting cities with cathedrals, and I like the smaller ones - I'd highly recommend Chichester and Norwich too.

Lincoln Cathedral has got to be one of the most beautiful in the country, the pictures are stunning.
What sort of building is your hotel? From the architecture of the wondows it looks like it might once have been connected with the cathedral?

The hotel rooms are in a 19th C chapel of some sort and the Theological college use part of the building, then for breakfast you have to walk across to the main building which is still being used by the Bishop, not sure what for exactly. There's nothing outside to tell you it's a hotel, we weren't even sure we'd found the right place when we arrived the other day! Oh and the medieval Bishop's palace is in the same grounds as this building.

that pic of the ceiling ribs is amazing! and the one inside the roof is too. i love getting to look inside buildings to see how they're put together. i'm glad you didn't touch the ropes and upset the bells. no one wants an upset bell. that last pic is the best, tho, with the sunset on the cathedral towers.

Wow, how beautiful! We've never been to Lincoln, but it's very similar looking to Bath and Wells and we loved it there, so much gorgeous architecture :)
