Snagged from harrigan, whose quotes were pretty awesome.

Grab the book nearest you, turn to page 117. The second sentence will be your life for 2017.

Mine's from The Long Earth by Terry Pratchet and Stephen Baxter.

Some dreams were new, and at the same time very, very old...

Hmm. It's going to be an interesting year then!

Or I just keep dreaming.

Nothing wrong with having a dream. Imagine if Martin Luther had gone, "I had a dream...but it didn't make much sense!" lol.

Ha ha that would be a good premise for a Douglas Adams-like alternate reality!

I would SO not be the one to write it, but hell yes :)

That's a pretty cool one!

(My nearest book is a blank notebook, which seems a bit ominous. :D)

Your year will be a blank sheet on which you will write your destiny...!

Well that's interesting and sort of profound.

Mine is...weird. My sentence was: Maddie. Just the one word. I don't even know anyone called Maddie, so how she's going to be my life this year, I don't know. Oh...I just had a thought. Maybe I'm going to be a maddie this year, ie a crazy person. That makes so much more sense... :\

This is awesome! I love both ways of interpreting this...Any way you look at it, lots of dreaming is a good thing, right?

Funny how we both chose Terry Pratchett!

If I'd been at home that wouldn't have been the closest book, I'd probably have ended up with Alan Garner or that Vietnam War one, The Things We Carried!

That's a great start to 2017! Old and new dreams combined...all featuring the Brothers Winchester perhaps??

What a fabulous sentence!
Mine is "When he turned to his teammates, he encountered a reef of curious, reflective faces, all gazing at him woodenly with morose and inscrutable animosity."
That's Catch 22... because of course I'd have a run on sentence from a novel that I only read to shut off my brain, because it has absolutely no plot and can only be read and experienced in the moment.

I'm definitely due a re-read of Catch 22, haven't read it since I was at school and that sentence is really tempting me in!

Yours is so cool!

Mine is from I Cannot Get You Close Enough: "When she was up at bat the coach would tell the girls coaching at the bases to slow her down if necessary." Hmm. Maybe I should try another book.

Oh, by Ellen Gilchrist, one of my faves.
