Sorry to bore you with my eye but I'm kind of fascinated (while still worried until it's totally healed). Anyhow, when I went to bed last night it was looking pretty nasty and red, so it was a relief to find it calmed down this morning, and not even gummed stuck (apparently that can happen). Hopefully it will continue to be nice and calm.

it's a bit achy - mainly I think reacting to bright light, so I've toned my screen right down and dug out my Dad's Oakleys to wear when I go out to meet my cousin for lunch. I've set reminders for the six times a day drops and will try and remember when I should be takng the 4x drops and the 5x antiviral tablets out of those six reminders. Fun fun!

And I couldn't resist taking a photo - I coudn't get the focus really sharp, but you can see the stitch he put in (at about one o'clock on the iris). Apparently becasue my cornea was too fragile and needed some assistance to seal back after the incision to extract the lens and insert the man-made one. So I'm assuming he went in at the top there - which is maybe why the iris doesn't look quite round - or is that just me?

Eye post cataract op
I'm kind of surprised I've got any eyelashes left, when they yanked the cover thing off yesterday it felt like a waxing LOL.

Very glad to hear your eye has calmed down, fingers crossed the achy-ness eases up soon too. Wow, that pic....I couldn't look at it for too long...lol. Lovely eye colour though! Feel better soon, BB ♥

You can't really see my eye colour for all the cloudiness from the operation and from the cornea scarring, sadly. Maybe I sould post a pic of my good eye for contrast LOL!

I'm so happy to hear that the redness is calming down, and really, considering this only happened yesterday, it's looking really good. It's at times like this when I remember that the human body is all kinds of awesome when it comes to healing.

Take care, and don't scratch (and btw, I really find this pic fascinating! I mean you can see that stitch - so cool! I find it hard to tell if the iris doesn't look round, it might be a little off)

It is kind of fascinating - I was trying to spot the stitch in a magnifyinf shaving mirror but no joy, so I was chuffed when I could see it so clearly on the photo! The human body is incredible sometimes!

I'm glad the surgery went well, and I hope the recovery is quick.

I think a pirate, even a retired one, is entitled to a parrot.

Thanks! I'd better pass on the parrot as they are long lived creatures and would outlive me now!

Lookin' good, lookin' good! And man, I can't imagine stitching something like an eyeball. Opthalmology is nuts!

Isn't it? Tiny stitch presumably with a tiny needle - even with magnifiers I'd be worried about doing that nice and neat! But then I sucked at needlework at school LOL

I tried looking in the mirror to spot the wee stitch but couldn't see it - but it's quite clear on the photo! Interesting, isn't it!
I'd better not get a parrot, the damn thing would outlive me now...

Wow, tiny tiny stitch!! Not surprised your eye is so irritated, but it sounds good that it's already calmer than yesterday. Is it still blurry as it's adjusting, or can you tell the vision difference already?

I know this is in my future at some point - cataract in each eye but not impeding vision yet. Frankly I look forward to having glasses-free vision for the first time in my life LOL!

I hope things continue to mend smoothly! *HUGS*

I think needing a stitch isn't normal so you probably won't need one when your time comes. I can already see quite well out of that eye - there's like a cloudy bit in the centre but around that I can already tell the vision is great, so I'm looking forward to the healing time being over and seeing what it's like - though I'll still need glasses for my right eye, as well as (probably) for reading and astygmatism correction in the left. Before I got the damn shingles that left eye was already improving in that old age way where your short-sightedness gets better but you start needing help for close up stuff, so I was really miffed about the scarring! Oh well.

I think too that the operation is much quciker for a 'normal' cataract so hopefully yours will go nice and smooth. Of course, by the time yours need doing, who knows what further advances they may have made!

Ahw, no more pirate patch, I was all ready to do J2's pirate jokes;) Good to see your eye is recovering, I find it fascinating too, so thanks for sharing the surgery experience!) Look at that tiny stitch, very cool.

Here's your reminder to do the drops and tablets if applicable at this time:)

I have to wear the patch tonight in bed - wonder if Paul's got a secret Pirate Fetish?
Thanks for the reminder! I've set 6 alerts every day then I just have to remember which ones I'm NOT taking drops and or tablets LOL

:D Healing well! And you can go out with it and enjoy your day. OMG, that's a tiny suture! I can't imagine putting in something like that. Into an eyeball O.o

The pupil does look uneven, but I'm gonna take a guess that it's post-op swelling. The iris (colored part) is a muscle, and a pupil is a hole, so it could look like that from the muscle being a touch swollen where he went in. A guess, though.

Date: 2016-09-09 09:05 pm (UTC)
From: [identity profile] amberdreams.livejournal.com
Yes it feels bruised like a muscle too - there was mention of iris hooks at one point during the op so I assume the poor iris might be feeling a little abused as well as whatever cuts and scrapes had to be done inside the eye. That must have been a tiny tiny needle for that tiny tiny stitch! i was glad the doc was young (as well as good looking) - it made me confident of a steady hand! LOL

You never knew about my eyecon fetish... Oh well, I won't apologize. I am happy that your eye seems to be doing better. Eye-sight is not to be taken lightly.

*hugs*

At least I didn't turn the picture into a horror eyecon. (I have some self-control, if only a little.)
