I don't have much to say about this one - it was kind of interesting rather than gripping.
It felt like an exposition kind of episode - giving us some more pieces in the jigsaw of the fallen angels and Abaddon's plans, with a little teaser with Crowley and the blood at the end, all of which is probably the set up for some happenings later in the season but didn't give us a great deal to care about in this particular episode. The case was a bit anticlimactic - I'd been half hoping for an Anti-Cupid type angel, but I suppose what we got was okay - Angelic codeine taken to extremes.
The scenes with Human Cas weren't as excruciating as I'd feared. No doubt there were a fair few Castiel fans' ovaries exploding at seeing Cas with a baby, but that did nothing for me until he sat and talked to her about life on earth. That little speech did feel like it meant something, but the whole babysitting let-down was a little bit cringeworthy. That woman was STILL giving out mixed signals to Cas at the end too, so I found that unconvincing. Mind you having said that - Dean was giving out mixed signals too! To actually apologise for sending Cas out into the world seemed to be acknowledging it was a mistake, having seen first hand a deadly angel track Cas down and try and kill him, then still drive away and leave him there? That just makes no sense.
Oh well.
So overall first impressions - it was an okay sort of episode. Maybe I'll see more in it on a second viewing.

Date: 2013-11-13 10:24 pm (UTC)Cas being so proud of having this low-rent job was kinda-sorta done for laughs, I think, but came off as sad. That woman was annoying (and a user), and Dean driving away...
At least he did apologize. Something he wouldn't have done even two seasons ago.
Maybe when I shotgun the season next summer, it'll be better.
