I feel like I'm art-spamming with art posts two days in a row! LOL
Here's the second of my posts forspn_gen_bigbang. ramblin_rosie's story The Dark Wind is from an intriguing AU where John Winchester is a Navajo who married Mary Campbell, so Sam and Dean are half Navajo.  Their history is largely the same, but with some fascinating differences due to their different background and the support network that comes with it.
So for me the challenge was to try and capture some of that Native American heritage, while keeping them recognisably Sam and Dean.  Hopefully I've managed that! There aren't really any plot spoilers in the art; Mary's journal expresses thoughts about events we all know from canon.
Warning! Image intensive post (obviously!). I've scaled down the extra large images but you can view them real size by clicking on them and viewing them in Photobucket.
First the promo banner with an extract from my drawing.

Then the main picture showing two scenes from the story:

I did some story dividers based on Mary's journal and a Navajo rug.  This is all of them in one pic.

And here's an attempt at digitally Navajo-ing Dean!

If you are interested, I took some close up photos of my base drawing - I used graphite pencil and coloured pencils (not tried those for years!).

I wasn't happy with Dean's pixie body, but I kind of like Sam. A lot! LOL
And here's the boys riding - I don't like either of the riders but I am pleased with how the horses Aggie and Ozzy turned out.

And that's all folks! Hope you like 'em, and I hope you will go and read the story too, and give ramblin_rosie some love!
Master post for the fic is here.  There is also a PDF download with art available via the master post.

Art sources - mainly Google!

I love the second from the bottom. Fun to work in traditional media, isn't it? I was really curious about the art that would come out of this fic. Great job!

Thanks a lot - I had thought about doing one or two more scenes in the same picture so it was a bit like a tapestry or something similar but chickened out. I am quite fond of how Sam turned out in the rock part of the picture, though Dean's body was a total failure LOL.

I love the coloring you did for the banner - they're such lovely tones and so fitting of the desert setting. And Dean doesn't look like a pixie! That's just a difficult position to draw.

The dividers are gorgeous - that's a brilliant way of doing them. And the Navajo-ing of Dean also turned out lovely. Again, you really captured the tone of the region. Beautiful work!

Somehow I managed to entirely miss the art post for the story! [facepalm]
Anyway, I love your Dine Sam with his gorgeous, long hair and I really like the dividers, with the journal and the rug! :)

My standing Sam was the only thing I was really happy with out of this lot, but thanks for talking a look!
