I haven't read anyone else's reactions yet but I think that was the best episode for quite a while in terms of deilvering on several different fronts - the story worked, the acting rocked, the filming was well done and of course the boys looked very pretty.
So my initial reaction -
It was a classic SPN episode and a half, wasn't it? The tension just kept going right the way through, and yet they still stuffed it with some really great laugh out loud moments. How do they manage that? Awesome.
Bits that I loved -
There was a huge amount packed into this episode when you start unpicking it yet it still flowed so well. I hope they keep up this standard for the rest of the season!

Bits that I loved -
- Cas turning that stained glass into a picture of him and the woman on the tv saying God was young and sexy!
- Dean's line about new Cas not getting irony any better than old Cas
- Cas looking in the mirror and the horrible creatures in his stomach like Alien
- Oh Sammy - when has keeping everything bottled up ever been a good idea?
- Sam's shirt choices - did you notice in the junk yard scene, that green and brown shirt made Sam blend in with the old rusty junkers - that was visually very pleasing
- Kick ass Dean in the posh house!! Awesome - I loved it when the old guy says "I'm the one with the firearm, Son," and next minute Dean has them both tied up before Bobby and Sam arrive. So cool!
- The scene with Death was just brilliant. I love how terrified our boys are, how totally calm and scary Death is, and yet all three of them manage to stand up and be counted. Love how Death tells Dean to shut up (hilarious!) and Dean telling Cas "Death is our bitch!" Ha ha oh Dean!
- Having the civilians tied up watching that scene was so well done, it managed to add to the comedy value seeing their reactions.
- Asian cartoon porn!! Really?
- And the whole angle with Sam's hallucinations running all the while kind of in the background while the souls thing had to be dealt with...so now we have to wait to see where Sam is (hopefully getting himself back together in time to rescue Dean and Bobby...)
- Sam being the one to not give up on Cas was interesting and also kind of lovely, because we got to see how much Cas still means to Dean right at the end there.

Hee!!! for Asian cartoon porn and the high pitched cartoony squeals that were coming from the computer when Sam asked Dean to turn it off!
Oh, and I'm so looking forward to finding out what happened to Sam. Arrrgh for next week!
I did notice Sam's shirt in the junkyard scene. very nice!
