In response to [livejournal.com profile] de_nugis 's prompt in Hoodie time here

This was the request:
Dean's day as death isn't without consequences. It starts small -- he feels cold all the time. Then he starts seeing reapers -- he knows sometimes, now, when people are about to die. But there's nothing he can do to stop it, he knows that. Then he starts slipping into the reaper zone himself -- not like he's dying, just like he steps out of his body, spends a few hours walking the borderlands between life and death, sometimes talking to the souls who get to go on, but never able to go forward or back of his own volition. At first he returns to his body in due course, to find Sam panicking over him, but then one day he slips out and he waits and waits to wake up and find himself back in his body, but it doesn't happen. He's somewhere in Peru or something, watching a mountaineer who's about to fall, but he's got to get back to where Sam is, he's got to fix this before he's stuck forever as neither a human soul nor a reaper, just some abstract witnessing thing in between . . .
Obviously, I didn't go for the mountain in Peru but I thought Death would go wherever there was war and suffering...

Oh, I love the soldiers, that's perfect, and the way the lighting makes Dean look otherworldly.

Thank you!

This is such a chilling juxtaposition of images. Really powerful. I've never seen art for fulfilling a prompt (unless it was a crack doodle) so this is especially interesting to me. Really awesome fill!
