For artpaperscissor and chomaisky's prompt "lost stars trying to light up the dark"  - which gave me all sorts of wildly romantic ideas I had no idea how to achieve; so this is what I ended up with.

In case it isn't obvious from the picture...
I thought that maybe our boys won't ever die, but like in Greek myths they will be turned into stars. Their curse is to guard the gates of Hell for all eternity, because they failed to finish the Trials and close the gates when they had the chance.

Oh, I LOVE that idea, and I love how you presented it, with darkness dominating so much of the picture and the boys brimming with light. I'd say it turned out pretty darn magnificently, myself! There's a real sense that there's a lot more outside that door than we're seeing.

Aw, this is saaad. But Sam and Dean are still together, which is a good thing...I adore the concept and how you presented it. I guess they have turned some of those hell creatures into their pets :D...

Wow. I absolutely love the concept! And I know you said it was Greek-myth inspired, but to me the art looks more like Balinese art, maybe like something created for a shadow puppet show... Anyway, it's awesome! :)

I love that you thought that - someone else mentioned shadow puppets too. That wasn't intended, but the monsters do have a bit of an Eastern/Asian feel to them, so yay!

I love your story you came up with for the prompt. The art is really gorgeous. I've often thought them becoming stars would be a good way to end the show. Guarding the hell door is genius. The color, bright stars and dragon faces plus the way their shadows stretch out over the glow are incredibly eye-catching. I really like this.
