Art meme #5 - Sam for sweet_lyri

My final fill for the limited palette challenge is Sam for sweet_lyri.
This has been a fun thing to do! I might try this again in a little while - watch this space.

I'll leave it up to you to imagine what has happened here; my initial thought was maybe he's just had to kill Dean with the Demon knife...


For the process oriented - this was all digital. In Photoshop I made a background of a mix of the orange and mid-purple, sketched Sam roughly and then built up the colours on the figure in Sai. I then came back to photoshop to finish it off with some highlighting and a texture overlay to hide my dodgy unfinished bits. LOL!
Here's an early version showing the original sketch and the start of the 'painting'.

*whispers* I'd actually love it for the angst factor. It's actually how I thought they might end S9, so I'm totally prepared for it. :) I love if it meant it was the only way to save Dean from being the very thing he doesn't want to be. The ultimate sacrifice for Sam (and of course, the very act means it actually saves Dean and he becomes human again). *nods*

Wow, this is sad and powerful, so much emotion in his posture and his expression, I love the colours too. Poor Sammy.

Your idea of Sam killing demon!dean is intriguing, it would be a twist on the Cain kills Abel scenario. I spent the last few episodes of S9 expecting Dean to kill Sam!

It's weird how that idea came about - I'd decided to draw anguished Sam and then I wanted to include the knife and ended up with that thought being the rationale for the scene. But then it kind of made sense!

Aw. Hurt!Sam is like my crack, and this is wonderful. Love the colors, and I really really just want to take him in my arms and snuggle him better.

Love the blood, especially dripping off the blade, and knowing it's Dean's. So emotionally perfect.
