Me old Dad

Herewith an extract from me Pa's first Skype call on his iPad. He did have it propped up on a table in the spare bedroom where Mum had sent him to take the call, but there were too many reflections from the window, so it's on his lap. Hence the weird angle. Oh and this is after he nearly fell over trying to sit down in the chair which was farther behind him than he expected.

The other voices you hear are me and my Mum - I probably sound really loud as I always have to shout or they can't hear me. Ha ha ha!
Apologies for all the boring chat about travel arrangements.

Oh he is so sweet! He looks like my dear old Uncle Ted, who was 91 years young last month and also likes to fall over frequently and worry us all! I love your giggle when your mum says 'oh what have you done!' and his smile is just lovely.

Thanks for sharing, I need happy things today!

Hopefully my Dad will carry on falling over well into his nineties too. :D

I hope so too, without too many falls! Uncle Ted has turned it into an art form, he's been doing it for years! He's had both hips replaced and he still manages a flight of steps up to his flat and lives alone without any assistance.

My Dad is getting worse - he had a really bad fall downstairs the Christmas before last and cracked his head open - they now think there was nerve damage to his spine which is having odd effects but he's still waiting for the referral to the neurologist. He kind of gets out of control and goes faster and faster until he hits something that stops him. It is a bit hairy!

I'm so sorry to hear that, it's a real worry. Did the crack to his head cause the nerve damage or was it the cause of the fall? I hope he sees a neurologist soon. I watch my uncle walk along with his stick and I'm amazed he doesn't fall more often.

now you're asking - I don't know. He was getting more and more unbalanced before the header downstairs but that was one hell of a fall so...they did tell him initially he'd broken his neck but then decided he hadn't. It's definitely affected him mentally though, he's lost words and a lot of his oomph.

Oh bless him, that was one nasty fall if he almost broke his neck. And it sounds like one of those chicken and egg situations as to which came first.
