Dean Winchester - a conundrum?

Thanks to tarynelliott for pointing out this fascinating study of Dean Winchester by someone who sits outside (or at least on the edge) of fandom. I think she hits a lot of nails on the head here, particularly about some of our reactions to recent and not so recent storylines. And a lot of what she says makes sense of some of the gender-bending fanfics too.

Thanks for sharing! Great article, I especially liked the way she explained that what sometimes seem as lack of character development (Dean not able to let go of Sam etc) is such a huge part of his personality and past experience/trauma it just can't change. I've been trying to explain that in an on going debate for ages now and she did it in a short paragraph.

I love that part. It's a large part of why I love Dean. He's flawed. And fixing him really isn't ever going to happen. She has a brilliant insight into Dean. She binge watched all the seasons this year and caught up with the current season. I'm kinda in love with this chick at the moment. LOL
