I've been having a very lovely time at my parents - though I have NO idea how to get through to my Dad about taking some care over things. He keeps doing ridiculous stupid stuff - like this morning, our clocks went forward one hour, so he climbed on a chair in the kitchen to get the wall clock down and alter it. Fecking stupid on two counts a) it's a wireless clock that changes itself automatically and b) he's barely able to walk, completely unsteady on two feet and surprise surprise, he fell off the bloody chair. Luckily he was just bruised. Fecking idjt.
So happy photo of the day #1 - my Pa in his natural element, sitting in an arm chair in the conservatory, reading the paper and happily not in hospital again.

Happy pic #2 for today is my Mum in HER natural element, her garden - which is just starting to bloom and will soon be looking fan-bloody-tastic. I have no idea how she gets it looking so good, or grows all the vegetables she does when the only help she gets is a friendly neighbour mowing her lawn for her. She does everything else herself and she'll be 80 this year. Guess who I take after? Yup. My Dad. (Though hopefully I'll be less prone to falling on my head when I'm his age).

That little pond is teeming with tadpoles!
It was Mother's Day today, so I was also very happy that the sun shone all day, it got quite warm, and we have a very nice meal at the Peach Tree restaurant down the road by Brother Cadfael's Abbey. So I think my Mum had a nice day too.
I am travelling back home tomorrow with a break in the journey for a work meeting in London, which is a bit less than exciting.

Oh, how lovely your mother's garden is even just getting started. And your dad just can't stay out of trouble, can he? :)

Her garden is beautiful - what you might call an Englsih cottage garden with an allotment down the end - it's about 100 feet long.
And yes, Dad is such a naughty boy! I don't know what to do with him.

They are totally adorable. My FIL does stuff like your dad... he lives by himself, and has a house with lovely features like a stair railing that is held together with SCOTCH TAPE, no lie... but he won't change his ways. Your mom's garden already looks beautiful. Please make sure to post pics later this season too!

Mum loves taking photos of her garden so I'm sure I can post a pic or two! Yes these aging relatives are a worry - they get more incompetent than children but you can't tell them what to do because they are adults and won't listen. Argh!

Your family is in Liverpool? I have distant cousins that live there whom I have visited numerous times (last summer was my latest visit), so I feel like I know it well. One cousin lives right downtown, close to the Liver Building; one lives in Preston; and another who used to live in Deeside recently moved to Sale. Half the family supports Liverpool and the other half Everton, so it is amusing to see their Facebook exchanges during football season.

Your mother's garden looks lovely, even though not much has bloomed yet. I bet it is gorgeous during the summer.

The garden is a delight in summer! We were from Liverpool originally but I now live down south and the parents in Shropshire, I just have one aunt left in Liverpool, in Aigburth so I go and visit a couple of times a year. My Granddad was an Everton supported but the rest of us were Liverpool through and through, so I'm not sure how that happened! Catholics were supposed to support Everton, apparently.
