Don't you just love it when you discover a new writer who not only writes in-character AUs with great dialogue, but brings back Ellen Harvelle and Victor Henricksen? I'm sad to see this author saying they aren't writing much fanfic these days and that they aren't likely to revisit this universe, because it's so rich and full of potential.
In this AU, Dean is a cop, brought up in the job by his Dad. Ellen Harvelle is his boss, ex lover of John Winchester and Dean's ex mother in law, so their relationship is nicely complicated. This Dean is just as messed up as our Dean, for similar and different reasons. Sam and Dean aren't related, but there's a beautifully worked out melding of supernatural elements and Dean's more mundane world that ends up bringing them together. Henricksen is Dean's partner and their interactions are so good. The whole package made me so happy, I wanted another 100k words at least.
