I don't know why you think this isn't very good, I think it's beautiful, and am especially loving the emerald and his very gorgeous cheek and chin bones :D Also, epic hair is epic!

I love this! "No reference" reads to me as wonderfully stylized, because you can definitely tell who it is--not in that "I recognize this face" sense but in that "I know, at some deep and indelibly Sam/JP level, who this is." The play of light is especially gorgeous, and I love the weightlessness of his hair underwater. Excellent work!
