Nine days to go until Season 10 starts, and nine seasons of SPN to celebrate as we go. Seems like a great idea to me so here we go with Season 1.

The season that grabbed me from the Pilot and never let go. I wish I could remember how I came to buy the box set Seasons 1-3 in the first place, but I can't...I just remember watching those two pretty boys and falling in love with Dean immediately. I've always been a sucker for the damaged, pretty ones who cover up their pain with a smart-arse mask. Or even without the pain, I tend to fall for the hero-jokers. Manolito in High Chaparral, Hannibal Heyes in Alias Smith and Jones, John Sheppard in SGA - you get the picture.

I think I'd have carried on watching even if they'd stuck to monster-of-the-week formats but the deeper story-lines are the ones that sparked a real devotion in me - the search for John, the mystery of Mary's death, what was happening to Sam and Dean binding everything together. Home and Heart Faith (I meant Faith!) are still amongst my all time fave episodes for a reason. And that season finale - still shocks me even now, after having watched it so many times I've lost count.

I love rewatching season 1 and seeing how far our boys have come, especially Sam.

Yep. The pilot hooked me right in too and it's been a wild ride ever since. And I'm so glad it did. I never would have known about fandom and how much fun it can be without this show.

The pretty boys hunting monsters premise was enough to get me interested, but as soon as Dean opened his mouth there was no going back. :) And once the deeper story lines got cooking it was even better. So many good episodes in season one. I think Faith and Home might be my favorites. And yes to the season finale. It was torture waiting all summer to see what was going to happen. :)

I'm with you. I LOVE re-watching Season 1. It's one of my happy places, for sure.

I love the pain along with the smiling and the pranking and being brothers :D

also: Sam with bangs.

I remember in S201 Sam said something like but we just start to be brothers again, and that's a good summary of a big part of S1. I always get choked with emotions when thinking back on it. And the pilot is extremely well written and foreshadows much of what happens later.
And Jared and Jensen were so young back then...

High Chapparel and Alias Smith and Jones--two shows that I didn't know anyone else ever watched!

Everything was all *new* in S1--they were making it up as they went! Everybody was young (well, youngER, anyway) and excited about this new thing and all the possibilities! You can't hold onto that exact quality of excitement, or recapture it when a thing is either successful and begins to expand and mature, or sadly, fails and falls aside. But it is a grand ride when it's happening. I'm glad I was there for that.

Me, too. Dean got me hooked. But the relationship between Sam and Dean has made me stick with Show all these years.

The first episode I ever saw was Hook Man, and even though it's not the strongest episode, I was hooked (he he)! Sometimes I wish it was the pilot though because what a way to introduce a new series!!!
