A Bleak Understanding - Fic rec and art

amberdreamsOk, not at all Christmassy and inspired by a very sad fic I read last night by Lustmordred called A Bleak Understanding in Reverse.
It started with birdsong. Sam was taking a shower and he heard it in the running water.
So I went to bed clutching a damp tissue, then woke up at 3am in tears again having remembered a line near the end "Not far off, something was burning..." Sniffle.
