Dean drawing
I was feeling sad today - wrapping a much diminished pile of presents just emphasised all the people who are missing and it just didn't feel right. So I thought I'd try some drawing instead. (Of course, I should have been writing instead but - yeah).
I wanted to try something more controlled and using zones instead of the more organic shading I'd normally do, so I started with pencil outlines then once I was happy with the proportions, I inked it. Just a fine Stabilo felt tip pen.

Here are some of the stages.
Starting to shade it
I'm not sure what to do with it next. I might shade some more then put the photo into PS and try some colouring.
It's certanily turned out better than a drawing I tried a couple of days ago - that was just so awful and I got so cross! LOL
Anyhow, I feel better now.

And I know what you mean about feeling sad. It gets me every time I revisit my Christmas Card list, and every year there's a couple of names that I have to take off. Very sobering :(

And yes, I suppose it's inevitable as we get older, but that doesn't mean we have to like it.

I'm sorry you were feeling sad. It is depressing to have less cards and presents to buy each year - Christmas is such a time of melancholy as well as joy. But I'm pleased you found a great way to distract yourself.
