Dean drawing

I was feeling sad today - wrapping a much diminished pile of presents just emphasised all the people who are missing and it just didn't feel right. So I thought I'd try some drawing instead. (Of course, I should have been writing instead but - yeah).
I wanted to try something more controlled and using zones instead of the more organic shading I'd normally do, so I started with pencil outlines then once I was happy with the proportions, I inked it. Just a fine Stabilo felt tip pen.

Here are some of the stages.

I'm not sure what to do with it next. I might shade some more then put the photo into PS and try some colouring.

It's certanily turned out better than a drawing I tried a couple of days ago - that was just so awful and I got so cross! LOL

Anyhow, I feel better now.

Nothing like Dean Winchester's face to help you feel a bit better about life! That's a really lovely drawing too.

I love this, it's a different technique for you and it's a great effect, very bold.

And I know what you mean about feeling sad. It gets me every time I revisit my Christmas Card list, and every year there's a couple of names that I have to take off. Very sobering :(

I'm sorry you were feeling sad honey *hugs* It's the worst time of the year for remembering those who aren't here. You put yourself to constructive use though because that is excellent, I love that as it gets shaded it's coming into it's own and the final image is brilliant. Writing, pfffttt, arting for the win ;)

This is beautiful! I really like the way you drew and shaded the hair. I'm glad that this helped ease your sadness--

Wow, he's amazing! I love how you've shaded his face, and his lips, eyes, eyebrows and ears are perfect.

I'm sorry you were feeling sad. It is depressing to have less cards and presents to buy each year - Christmas is such a time of melancholy as well as joy. But I'm pleased you found a great way to distract yourself.
