When drawing frustrates

I dunno. I had an idea in my head and it just didn't turn out right. I also learned charcoal pencil doesn't work on top of graphite, and ink is questionable. Plus of course, graphite doesn't scan terribly well

But regardless. Here's a Dean portrait.

Sorry it didn't turn out the way you wanted; I definitely understand that frustration. But I think it's gorgeous. :)

He looks beautiful! Even if he doesn’t look the same as the vision in your head did! I love the smooth shading on his cheeks verses the textured shading in the background πŸ€—
(And charcoal not working on graphite is a bastard! Number of times I’ve ended up with shiny grey shading and then wanted to just black it up by adding charcoal on top but πŸ˜” πŸ€·πŸ»β€β™‚οΈ β€” if you ever find a work around (other than better planning πŸ˜‚) please let me know πŸ‘πŸ»πŸ˜„)
Still gorgeous tho! πŸ˜„πŸ€—

ha ha I will indeed β€” I just bought some interesting soft carbon pencils from Art Graf and they seem promising. Very black and interestingly they are water soluble too. I've only tried a rough sketch so far and need to have a play.
