Blind contour drawing

For a challenge on [community profile] DRAWESOME, and in part prompted by Inktober's Day 24 prompt, Blind, here's my attempts to draw blind, without looking at the paper at all. Thanks to goss for the vid refs and the idea!

It's even harder than drawing left handed, the temptation to check what you are doing is so strong! I draped a newspaper over the paper so even if I dropped my gaze it wouldn't help me.

I thought I'd try it two different ways - the first was trying to use one continuous line. I ended up using two as I took my pen off around the second eye, and when I returned pen to paper, somehow the whole scale of the drawing changed. Really weird.

Continuous line (almost)
The I thought I'd try a more 'normal style', drawing one bit then moving on to the next. That one was even stranger. Looks like I was reasonably ok for length, but had no clue about width.
Taking the pen off the paper
For both I started with the ear, which is interesting because normally I'd start with the eyes.
Dean is judging my efforts and finds them wanting. LOL!

I like the clean lines of the first one! And if you are not looking for likeness, I think it came out visualy interesting!
This is a fun challenge...

"visually interesting" is a good way to describe them. They look like they're telling their own story, not Dean's.
