My second wipbigbang art is for loracine's awesome Dark Angel/SPN crossover (my fave type of crossover, why aren't there more of them?) The Sulphur on Your Sleeve.

I did an alternative version of the banner, to look more like a tv screen and hopefully those of you who are DA fans will recognise the Eyes Only shout out.

Moving on, this is kind of spoilery for the story except you have to read the fic to understand what is going on here, so ti doesn't really give anything away.
This is the first idea I had when reading the draft; it was such a cool description and a cool image that I just had to try to portray it.

I know this is a common whinge lately, but yep, you guessed it, I ran out of time, so this was the main picture. What follows is just some detail.

I wasn't that happy with how it turned out as far as a likeness, but I liked the colouring.
And here are close ups of Dean's and Sam's eyes from the banner.
I hope you can tell whose is whose!



Process:
I used various references and the art is all digital this time. For Dean's eyes I used a Michael Muller Jensen photoshoot, and for Sam's a red carpet photo from a while ago. Dean's floating reference was from a series of photos by the remarkable dancer/photographer Mickael Jou. Look him up, the images he gets are amazing. This is the one I used for the idea for Dean's picture.

I only remembered to save a couple of in progress shots from the main pic. Laying down some basic colour...

Adding more layers and more detail...

You'll see I changed the position on Dean's body as well as his head from the ref pic because in this particular part of the story, Dean was floating, and there was no real tension. Hopefully it worked.

Holy wow, you can ABSOLUTELY tell whose is whose! Especially Dean's. <333

And I love the main image--the coloring/paintwork is sublime, and the lighting combined with the vertigo of the background really gives you that sense not only of depth but also liftoff, precipice. It works so well it's like an optical illusion. (And I love his little toes! :3)

Oh, wow, I just love that main piece! It's gorgeous. (And that photo reference was really cool, too.) I really need to move "watch Dark Angel" closer to the top of my to-do list so I can read some of these awesome crossovers.

I confess, I've only watched Episode 17 Pollo Loco from Season 1 (because of a certain Mr Ackles) and all of Season 2 for the same reason. Jensen's two characters are the best thing about the series! Alec (Season 2) really reminds me of Dean in many ways -that whole putting on a cocky front, trying to let bravado mask the pain underneath. I totally love Alec. You should try it!

Jesus Wept! You can so tell who's eyes are who's and would you just look at that pic of Dean suspended on that chain, it's fabulous :D I love Dean on his own but I think the banner itself is my favourite, it's so intense!

You should watch, even S1 as it gives the background to the story, and S2 DEFINITELY! Jensen is so good as Alec, and the episodes he features in most happen to be the best ones!

This is all so amazing, I love the Eyes Only banner and yes, I could tell the eyes apart! The way Dean's body is bowed and suspended is so beautiful, and his face in profile is stunning, I love his long lashes and his lips. Thanks for showing your process, it's so fascinating :)
