Convention roundup! JIB IV picspam thingy - days 1 &2

I should probably have kept some proper notes and tried to post at the time but...too late now.

So JIB IV, Roma the eternal city and my fave place.
As everyone now knows, Jared didn't show, or rather had to rush home - and unbelievably there were so called fans we overheard complaining about that fact.  What they actually said was "oh I don't see why Jared had to go, it was only someone in Gen's family."  Sometimes, fandom, you are a bunch of total insensitive, entitled, immature wankers.  Way to start this on a low note.  But hey, it got better.  And better.
(Unlike the quality of my photos - I was only 3 rows back but they are pretty poor)
First little adorable Rob sang

Then Richard and Matt pornstached

Then Richard insulted Misha who was mortally offended

Misha was Misha-esque until Ty crashed his first panel of the weekend and discovered the pornstache chair

Ty was - Ty. Apparently he hadn't had more than 2 hours sleep a night since his last US convention (NJ?) and thought it was very disturbing that Daniela (who owns JIB) had told him he wasn't to drink beer before 5pm...I think he'd decided to drink baileys instead.

He called my lovely new friend Nell (mostly10 on tumblr) up onto the stage to sketch him while he talked.

The evening of the first day was the cocktail party for Angel passes and meeting up with friends like adrenalineshots and her brother, and edina clouds (Viv) and dizzo (Jane).

As well as VERY brief meetings with each of the guests (excluding Jensen of course!)

Saturday, Jensen arrived but not before lots of shenanigans on stage from Matt, Ty, Rob, some boxes, a mute kid with glasses and various inflatables including a disobedient remote-controlled flying fish, a frog and some hammers.  Oh and the banana hammock made it's first appearance of the weekend.
Ty got into more trouble with JIB for organising a breakout from the Sinners' pen outside the main hall and leading them in to see his panel.  They were sent back to their Crowley-esque queue after a few minutes of freedom and much hilarity.

What's in the box??!!?  No severed heads this time though Rob wouldn't have known as the boys were holding it up so high he could barely see over the rim!
UntitledApparently Rob gets handsy when drunk (and climbs statues in fountains). Ty demonstrated his head locks, Rob found a new safeword - yup, banana hammock. Oh and if you search the web you should be able to find photos of Rob in a banana hammock for some film he did a while ago.

Jensen. Hirsute and in plaid, with bonus tongue porn.

Others have better shots of Jensen's Hello Kitty moment but this is my blurry one

Ty pretending to be Jared.  Jensen definitely relaxes when someone else joins him on stage.

I know that last one is totally blurry but I just love the way the spotlight caught his hair.
Right that's enough for now, I'll do another post later with some more pics and stuff.

Well, I said this year would be my only... but I seem to have caught the JIB bug now and I'm definitely planning on going next year too!

Yeah, it's pretty cool to have a stuntman for a brother - he's not actually working in TV/film right now as he lives in China and is a performer with Dragone, the sister company of Cirque du Soleil, but before he moved there last year he had been doing a fair bit of UK TV work and managed to get into a couple of movies filming in London.

Jensen's Vatican story sounds cool - love that last parts about Michael and Satan :P. I spent months trying to think of a question to ask that wouldn't just be the usual stuff he must get all the time... thank goodness for my brother's career, which provided the inspiration for this one. Now I've just got to come up with another good one for next year!

I had some ideas for questions but the stress of standing up and asking them in the main panels isn't worth it for me and I wasn't paying out the exorbitant extra money for the meet & greet when JIB only allow 20 minutes (Creations' are 1 hour and Asylum's are 45 mins...)

[identity profile] heavenli24.livejournal.com 2013-05-21 09:01 pm (UTC)(link)
Ah, I didn't realise the Creation and Asylum M&Gs were that much longer. Yeah, 20 minutes isn't that long at all, and I think some people were asking on the JIB forum if they could be longer.... but I guess that didn't happen. Since my plan was that this was probably going to be my only con, I would just go for it with the M&G. I honestly wasn't expecting to get a ticket at all (I was on holiday in the US when I sent the email, so when I got the confirmation though, I was like, "Crap, I actually have to pay all that money for it now!" :P

As I did have the M&G though, I decided to just sit back and enjoy the panels without worrying about asking questions. The only time I wish I had though was in Steve and Jason's Friday panel when hardly anyone was asking anything and the same people kept going back to ask more questions - I had a couple in my mind, so I should have just stood up and asked them :P.

I have considered maybe trying to go to a US con, but only if I could combine it with a holiday to the US (I wouldn't pay out to fly there just for a con, especially as I've been to the US five times in the last three years already) - the Dallas one would be ideal because I have relatives in Arkansas and often fly through Dallas on my way to visit them, but the problem is that I'm out of the country for work for all of the US cons this summer and next summer, and not allowed to take any leave, so I'm not going to be able to go anyway.

I doubt I'll go to another US con (unless I go to Vancouver because they do have the location tour...). I much prefer the European ones, you get so much more time with all the guests. Also like you I wouldn't go all that way without combining it with a holiday and there is nowhere in the States I really want to go. I did Chicago a couple of years ago and that was good, but mainly for meeting some of my Facebook SPN friends.
