Convention roundup! JIB IV picspam thingy - days 1 &2

I should probably have kept some proper notes and tried to post at the time but...too late now.

So JIB IV, Roma the eternal city and my fave place.
As everyone now knows, Jared didn't show, or rather had to rush home - and unbelievably there were so called fans we overheard complaining about that fact.  What they actually said was "oh I don't see why Jared had to go, it was only someone in Gen's family."  Sometimes, fandom, you are a bunch of total insensitive, entitled, immature wankers.  Way to start this on a low note.  But hey, it got better.  And better.
(Unlike the quality of my photos - I was only 3 rows back but they are pretty poor)
First little adorable Rob sang
P1200485
Then Richard and Matt pornstached
P1200517 P1200515
Then Richard insulted Misha who was mortally offended
P1200582
Misha was Misha-esque until Ty crashed his first panel of the weekend and discovered the pornstache chair
P1200602 P1200613
Ty was - Ty. Apparently he hadn't had more than 2 hours sleep a night since his last US convention (NJ?) and thought it was very disturbing that Daniela (who owns JIB) had told him he wasn't to drink beer before 5pm...I think he'd decided to drink baileys instead.
P1200630 P1200661
He called my lovely new friend Nell (mostly10 on tumblr) up onto the stage to sketch him while he talked.

The evening of the first day was the cocktail party for Angel passes and meeting up with friends like adrenalineshots and her brother, and edina clouds (Viv) and dizzo (Jane).
P1200704 P1200705
As well as VERY brief meetings with each of the guests (excluding Jensen of course!)

Saturday, Jensen arrived but not before lots of shenanigans on stage from Matt, Ty, Rob, some boxes, a mute kid with glasses and various inflatables including a disobedient remote-controlled flying fish, a frog and some hammers.  Oh and the banana hammock made it's first appearance of the weekend.
Ty got into more trouble with JIB for organising a breakout from the Sinners' pen outside the main hall and leading them in to see his panel.  They were sent back to their Crowley-esque queue after a few minutes of freedom and much hilarity.

What's in the box??!!?  No severed heads this time though Rob wouldn't have known as the boys were holding it up so high he could barely see over the rim!
UntitledApparently Rob gets handsy when drunk (and climbs statues in fountains). Ty demonstrated his head locks, Rob found a new safeword - yup, banana hammock. Oh and if you search the web you should be able to find photos of Rob in a banana hammock for some film he did a while ago.

Jensen. Hirsute and in plaid, with bonus tongue porn.

Others have better shots of Jensen's Hello Kitty moment but this is my blurry one

Ty pretending to be Jared.  Jensen definitely relaxes when someone else joins him on stage.

I know that last one is totally blurry but I just love the way the spotlight caught his hair.
Right that's enough for now, I'll do another post later with some more pics and stuff.

Awesome pictures! And you're right, the blurry one of Jensen at the end, the way it catches the light, its just beautiful :))))))

PS: did you notice that FlickR ate some of your pics? It did the same thing when I tried to do a big post *grumbles*

[identity profile] amber1960.livejournal.com 2013-05-21 07:59 am (UTC)(link)
I'll have to check Flickr again - I haven't had a chance to read your posts yet, trying to catch up on everything now!

[identity profile] heavenli24.livejournal.com 2013-05-20 09:56 pm (UTC)(link)
Great post and lovely pictures - they are much better than mine, but then I was much further back than you (even though I thought the zoom on my camera was pretty good, it doesn't compare to the quality of the pictures from people much closer to the stage)!

I had an amazing time in Rome last weekend - it was my first ever convention so I wasn't sure what to expect at all, but it was great (especially Sunday) :). I had a Jensen M&G ticket and got to ask him a question personally, which basically made the weekend for me, because I felt much more comfortable in that setting than in the photo ops (plus he held eye-contact with me the whole time he answered the question) :P.

It was so sad that Jared couldn't be there, especially as he had already in Rome for a few days beforehand and was all ready for the con, and just terrible that some people were even complaining about it (?!), but family comes first and that's how it should be. All the more reason to go back next year (assuming both Jared and Jensen go) :P.

I just read your report this morning! That is so cool your brother is a stuntman and yes, the best questions are the ones that prompt them to tell a story. i was really chuffed the first year I did JIB I stood up and asked a question in the main panel and Jensen told a little story about how Danneel's cousin/sister(??) got them into the Vatican and they had a private mass in a side chapel in St Peter's, but the best bit was that the service was conducted under a giant painting of Michael killing Satan!

I said before I went this year would be my last BUT....

[identity profile] heavenli24.livejournal.com 2013-05-21 08:33 pm (UTC)(link)
Well, I said this year would be my only... but I seem to have caught the JIB bug now and I'm definitely planning on going next year too!

Yeah, it's pretty cool to have a stuntman for a brother - he's not actually working in TV/film right now as he lives in China and is a performer with Dragone, the sister company of Cirque du Soleil, but before he moved there last year he had been doing a fair bit of UK TV work and managed to get into a couple of movies filming in London.

Jensen's Vatican story sounds cool - love that last parts about Michael and Satan :P. I spent months trying to think of a question to ask that wouldn't just be the usual stuff he must get all the time... thank goodness for my brother's career, which provided the inspiration for this one. Now I've just got to come up with another good one for next year!

[identity profile] amber1960.livejournal.com 2013-05-21 08:39 pm (UTC)(link)
I had some ideas for questions but the stress of standing up and asking them in the main panels isn't worth it for me and I wasn't paying out the exorbitant extra money for the meet & greet when JIB only allow 20 minutes (Creations' are 1 hour and Asylum's are 45 mins...)

[identity profile] heavenli24.livejournal.com 2013-05-21 09:01 pm (UTC)(link)
Ah, I didn't realise the Creation and Asylum M&Gs were that much longer. Yeah, 20 minutes isn't that long at all, and I think some people were asking on the JIB forum if they could be longer.... but I guess that didn't happen. Since my plan was that this was probably going to be my only con, I would just go for it with the M&G. I honestly wasn't expecting to get a ticket at all (I was on holiday in the US when I sent the email, so when I got the confirmation though, I was like, "Crap, I actually have to pay all that money for it now!" :P

As I did have the M&G though, I decided to just sit back and enjoy the panels without worrying about asking questions. The only time I wish I had though was in Steve and Jason's Friday panel when hardly anyone was asking anything and the same people kept going back to ask more questions - I had a couple in my mind, so I should have just stood up and asked them :P.

I have considered maybe trying to go to a US con, but only if I could combine it with a holiday to the US (I wouldn't pay out to fly there just for a con, especially as I've been to the US five times in the last three years already) - the Dallas one would be ideal because I have relatives in Arkansas and often fly through Dallas on my way to visit them, but the problem is that I'm out of the country for work for all of the US cons this summer and next summer, and not allowed to take any leave, so I'm not going to be able to go anyway.

[identity profile] amber1960.livejournal.com 2013-05-21 09:30 pm (UTC)(link)
I doubt I'll go to another US con (unless I go to Vancouver because they do have the location tour...). I much prefer the European ones, you get so much more time with all the guests. Also like you I wouldn't go all that way without combining it with a holiday and there is nowhere in the States I really want to go. I did Chicago a couple of years ago and that was good, but mainly for meeting some of my Facebook SPN friends.

Fun to get your perspective!

[identity profile] amber1960.livejournal.com 2013-05-21 07:54 am (UTC)(link)
Cheers - not many words and lots of pics is my perspective! LOL

[identity profile] quickreaver.livejournal.com 2013-05-20 11:02 pm (UTC)(link)
I abhor it when 'fans' forget that the celebrities are human beings with feelings and families. Years ago, my little sister was in a serious car accident -- in a coma -- and when I called my employer to tell her I was still not in-town and didn't know when I'd be back, her response was "But what am I supposed to do?" I nearly came through the phone and bit her face off.

If we act like jerks (whining, asking the guests uncomfortable questions) they won't come back, or the con will be forced to make more nitpicky rules.

At annnny rate, sounds like a fantastic time in a fantastic city and BOY would it be fun to meet you someday. We can be dirty old women together...

[livejournal.com profile] colls and I are going to Wincon, and there's Los Angeles con in November...

[identity profile] quickreaver.livejournal.com 2013-05-21 03:42 pm (UTC)(link)
Can't do a con THIS year, but I'd love to bounce into you at one of them in the future!

[identity profile] amber1960.livejournal.com 2013-05-21 07:54 am (UTC)(link)
That would be the only reason to go back to a US con - to meet more of you lovely peeps. Maybe Vancon to add in the locations tour... But I'm thinking another JIB first, if I can get a ticket.

[identity profile] quickreaver.livejournal.com 2013-05-21 03:40 pm (UTC)(link)
I've gotta figure out a way to make this work next year.

I'm curious, what's the difference between the European cons and the ones in the States, from your viewpoint?

[identity profile] amber1960.livejournal.com 2013-05-21 04:14 pm (UTC)(link)
The European ones are more chaotic but you get much much more interaction with the actors - and because they are also getting more interaction with each other both on stage and behind the scenes, I think their enjoyment of the whole event comes across in every contact they have with the fans.

For instance - Rick Worthy was telling us that his first con in the states he was really looking forward to meeting Seb Roche only to find that Seb had been there for a mere 3 hours the day before. He said that for that con, he was ferried from the hotel to the venue, into the (empty) green room, onto the stage, did his panel, signed autos, did photos and then was sent back to his hotel without seeing any of the other guests.

Creation do photo ops better but Europe does everything else in a more fun way.

[identity profile] quickreaver.livejournal.com 2013-05-21 05:23 pm (UTC)(link)
That definitely sounds like more fun for everyone involved (except maybe the con runners, heh!)

[identity profile] amber1960.livejournal.com 2013-05-21 05:38 pm (UTC)(link)
Heh heh. And of course I should have said - JIB has Rome. which you know, is a huge bonus as far as I'm concerned. Come to Rome and I will be your unofficial tour guide!

[identity profile] quickreaver.livejournal.com 2013-05-21 06:04 pm (UTC)(link)
OH GOD, I'd love to! SO HARD.

[identity profile] amber1960.livejournal.com 2013-05-21 07:52 pm (UTC)(link)
Trouble is, if they do the same as last year, tickets will go on sale very soon - and they sell out incredibly quickly! I'm thinking of going for it, seeing what (if anything) I get. One thing about it, there is no trouble selling your ticket later if you have to.

[identity profile] darklondonsky.livejournal.com 2013-05-20 11:09 pm (UTC)(link)
Love your pics!! I was so far away from stage and missed so many panels, that it´s awesome to see what actually happened XD

And Tyyyy. what a hunk, huh?!

Thanx for your work!!

[identity profile] amber1960.livejournal.com 2013-05-21 07:52 am (UTC)(link)
We missed each other eh? Maybe next time... I am so glad people video the panels because I always miss stuff!

And Tyyyyyyyyyy! Bwhahah!

[identity profile] darklondonsky.livejournal.com 2013-05-21 10:27 am (UTC)(link)
Yeah we did again ;-) You´ll be at JiB5?

Yes, their schedule is the most amazingly packed thing ever, so how is it possible NOT to miss stuff? ;-) Love this still.

Ty is so much fun!! Gonna see him this week in Frankfurt again <3

[identity profile] amber1960.livejournal.com 2013-05-21 10:39 am (UTC)(link)
Oooh you are going to AECon too? Awesome. A10 was such a blast, I'm sure AECon will be brilliant. And yes, I think I might be tempted to try for another Angel pass for JIB 5. These things are totally exhausting but totally addictive.

[identity profile] darklondonsky.livejournal.com 2013-05-22 01:20 pm (UTC)(link)
Yep, going :-) I´m tip-toeing around a M&G with them all at the mo.
Last SPN Con this year has to be wonderful.

Angel Pass? Wow! I´ll aim for a Demon again next year. Was good every year, even with a bit more waiting this year. Brought more spice to the nerves XD
And yes, it´s all so addictive!
See you next year defo. :-D

Dang. Ty really has taken to the whole con gig. I hope he's on the bill for L.A.; he'd be a total hoot.

[identity profile] amber1960.livejournal.com 2013-05-21 07:51 am (UTC)(link)
He is hilarious - at A10 he took half his clothes off in the group photo shoot though unfortunately he was wearing his trousers again by the time I got mine!! LOL

Lovely pics--thank you so much for sharing! And yeah, it's sad that people complained about Jared having to leave. I think that people get so focused on OMG J2!!!! that they forget that any of the guests can drop out. I've only been to one con with the actors (the first SPN Creation Con) and while seeing the guys was amazing the general fandom experience and meeting friends was the larger part of the con for me.

[identity profile] amber1960.livejournal.com 2013-05-21 07:50 am (UTC)(link)
Absolutely - the Asylum 10 weekend without either of the Js is the proof of that. It was totally awesome and 1600 people (probably at least 600 of those having only booked after Jared was announced) all seemed to be having an absolute ball even though Jared couldn't be there.

[identity profile] lylithj2.livejournal.com 2013-05-21 12:08 am (UTC)(link)
I would have been really disappointed if either J had missed the cons I went to-- but-- it seems from notes and pics from you guys that were there-- that Jensen tried really hard to make up for Jared being gone. God help me-- I hope I'd never say any crap like that in my disappointment.

Your pics are great. Enjoyed them. Thanks for sharing!

[identity profile] amber1960.livejournal.com 2013-05-21 07:48 am (UTC)(link)
I missed Jared, he is always such a relaxed funny guy and he certainly helps Jensen relax but then I think Ty must have taken over that role on the Sunday because I've never seen Jensen let himself go so often!

[identity profile] tifaching.livejournal.com 2013-05-21 03:13 am (UTC)(link)
All your Jensen pictures are unseeable! At least to me. Sigh. Story of my night. The last shot I can see is Ty in the hat. Man's got some beautiful eyes.

Looks like you had an amazing time!

Ooops, never mind! If I click on the flickr I can see them there!

Oh good - wonder why they aren't displaying on LJ when the others are? I've got a ton on Flicker!!!

I have your Ty autograph so will sort that out for you later in the week when I wake up a bit - I think I have post-convention fatigue! I think he became the new fan fave over the two weekends, he's an utter nutter!

[identity profile] ladywillin.livejournal.com 2013-05-29 06:54 pm (UTC)(link)
Great post Amber I loved it, kind of made me wish I'd gone to Rome again ... if only to see Ty!

Such a shame that Jared had to leave early but it sounds as though the others, Jensen in particular, tried to make up for it, and I'm sure no one was more disappointed than jared himself.

[identity profile] amber1960.livejournal.com 2013-05-29 07:16 pm (UTC)(link)
Jared missed out on a pretty wonderful con, and yes, Ty was definitely a star. His drinking worries me though, the man started at breakfast and drank steadily all day - worse than Dean!

[identity profile] ladywillin.livejournal.com 2013-05-29 07:18 pm (UTC)(link)
He started at breakfast? That IS worrying.
