The science of Christmas

I wonder if anyone's done any studies that explain the mystery of wrapping Christmas presents and why it eats up so much time out of my day? I mean look at my day today.

I popped out to Sainsburys at 9am and got a bunch of grapes, 6 bananas, 6 pints of milk and 4 kg of potatoes for us, and 4 six packs of red fruit yoghurts and some AA batteries for our 90 year old neighbours. That took about 30 - 40 minutes (and boy those bags were bloody heavy! LOL). I then wrapped Paul's presents. I popped out to lunch about 12 for 30 mins again, came back, ate my egg mayo baguette, did some emails and FB messaging, then started wrapping presents again from c2pm until Paul got home about 4:30pm. AND I HAVEN'T bloody finished yet!

How can it take so long????

The room's a mess with wrapped and unwrapped presents everywhere, rolls of paper, boxes of reycled bags and wrapping paper going back to when we were at uni (yes, I'm a hoarder and we have some foil wrapping paper that has been doing the rounds between various family members since the 1980s...). I couldn't do any more tonight because we were eating out with an old friend of Paul's, then we had to watch the Last Leg. We only have two more days before Christmas Day and now we have a couple of friends calling round on Christmas Eve for a chat, which means I need to make sure everything is not only wrapped but that chairs are clear for them to sit on and the decorations are put up.

I think I shall have to give up on the idea of finishing my DWBB properly or making a start on painting my hare. Hey ho. Or should I say ho, ho, ho?

Christmas, huh? What can you do.

I think there should be a study on the strange time zones around Christmas - it goes from weeks to days until Christmas in a matter of...days! I actually love wrapping presents but do tend to get in a mess, and forever loose the scissors, pen, sticky tape! I hope you manage to get the rest of the pressies wrapped and find space for your friends to sit! I shall be wrapping tomorrow - and watching The Last Leg!

Wednesday I cleaned house, Thursday afternoon Steve and I went for unofficial drinkies with the work lads and then swung by Aldi's and Sainsburys to pick up last minute things for Christmas (which we won't be having until the 27th), yesterday we went for the actual works lunch and drinkies, I'm currently sitting, and a quarter to pissing five in the morning writing out a list of yet more shit we need to get today before I have to start my three day Christmas stint at work AND wrapping the housemates' present, plus the present for the dog because Mum decided to get our cat a gift O.o

Why when you think you're done are you actually no where near it? LOL!

This is why the world has those marvellous little things called gift bags.
Life is FAR too short to wrap every single gift that you buy!!
