Miscellaneous

Isn't miscellaneous a lovely word? Anyhow, my mini knight has arrived. He seems to be made out of ceramic and is eminently breakable as well as rather small. Painting a mock up of my design is definitely going to be challenging!

And Mum posted a photo of her garden looking flipping glorious in it's autumn colours, so I thought I'd share it with you chaps. Here you have it, a typical English country garden. Except it's in a town, but whatever.
2016 garden
The pic is taken from her computer room and the garden reaches as far as those big trees in the distance, past that trellis on the left hand side. It's ridiculously long and she does a fine job with it. At eighty two this year I think it's (as they say in Suffolk) hella impressive.

Wow, that garden shot is stunning. How gorgeous is her property? :D
And as for the knight, he's adorable, can't wait to see him painted up! good luck with the not smushing him.

Mum's garden is the best, not least because she grows gooseberries and I get to eat them. :D

We have a gooseberry tree, it's ALL mine ;)

oh my gosh, your mom's garden is GORGEOUS ♥♥♥ Wow.
And your knight does indeed look like he'll provide a challenge. Good luck!!

Mum's garden is fab, I love it. But boy, it's a lot of work - she's out there nearly all the time in the summer. But she's got a freezer full of fruit and veg and she loves it.

Good luck on painting your little knight; that's going to be a fingertip fiddly job!

Your Mum's garden is beautiful, she really has got green fingers :)

[identity profile] amberdreams.livejournal.com 2016-10-24 08:33 am (UTC)(link)
Fiddly indeed!

Beautiful! I have a fantasy that I'll do something like that, but it's a lie, lie, lie. Lovely work.

[identity profile] amberdreams.livejournal.com 2016-10-24 08:33 am (UTC)(link)
I used to imagine having a garden like that but it's SO much work! So mine's a tenth of the size and an overgrown jungle! LOL

Jungles are also good. My grandmother had a really tropical one (it was Alabama, so it was hot and steamy), with a waterfall, and huge elephant ears and a pond with koi. I've always wanted to recreate it, but not enough to move back there. See statement about hot and steamy.

Man, painting that little knight is gonna be quite the job. Good luck!

Oh wow, your mothers garden is gorgeous. <3

I'm hoping to get started today but so far the light is so dull...

[identity profile] hugemind.livejournal.com 2016-10-23 07:48 pm (UTC)(link)
Whoa, you're gonna need a steady hand with the knight! But you being shortlisted is seriously awesome! \o/

The garden looks absolutely wonderful (and big). <3

[identity profile] amberdreams.livejournal.com 2016-10-24 08:31 am (UTC)(link)
I am indeed, and maybe also a magnifying glass! LOL

[identity profile] galwithglasses.livejournal.com 2016-10-24 02:32 am (UTC)(link)
That is a teeny knight. I wouldn't know where to begin...small brush for sure. 8-)

Your Mum's garden is truly gorgeous. It looks to be the kind of garden that has something of interest and color all year round. So lovely.

[identity profile] amberdreams.livejournal.com 2016-10-24 08:31 am (UTC)(link)
The garden does look lovely all year round, even in winter. She's got a wonderful array of wild flowers and traditional cottage garden flowers so late spring and summer is particularly fabulous. Plus down the far end is her allotment section - lots of fruit and veg!

[identity profile] madebyme-x.livejournal.com 2016-10-24 11:48 am (UTC)(link)
Wow, that's a tiny model! Surely that's too tiny to give an accurate idea of what it will look like fully painted?! That's a beautiful garden, and Mum goes a great job at looking after all that - it's massive!

[identity profile] amberdreams.livejournal.com 2016-10-24 12:02 pm (UTC)(link)
I'm guessing this model painting serves two purposes - it makes sure people can actually paint and hopefully makes the design look more attractive to a potential sponsor. As long as it's painted reasonably well, and that's the challenge! LOL

It is a GREAT word. XD Also, the knight is so cute, and the garden is ~gorgeous!

The knight is now painted (as good as I could get it anyway) and yes, Mum's garden fills me with envy (the lazy sort that wants the same but without any effort LOL)
