Spring has sprung

Had a morning out with the hubster, making the most of the sunshine as the forecast for the next few days is drear. So herewith, a wee picspam of Lackford Lakes.
Nuthatch - so chuffed with this one!
Nuthatch Lackford Lakes March 2016
There were a few birders all set up on the path opposite a fallen tree, all set up with their giant lenses - cheating! Basically, they put nuts and seeds on the old tree and then just wait for the nuthatch and other birds to turn up. So we stood by for ten minutes or so and tried to get a few snaps of our own! This little chap was also posing for us in the same place.

The sort of knobbly tree that could feature in a SPN episode - imagine this in the dark...

Mr Toad, just floatin'
Mr Toad?
Pensive Paul
Paul
I don't know why he insisted on wearing his winter parka, it was actually quite warm in the sunshine!

Those are all gorgeous! Paul does look pensive in sunshine.

To be honest, that's his default look. LOL

Just hangin', yanno?

Wow, honey they are some really good pictures! Loving the toad, seriously well done. also, Paul looks very intent in that picture *waves* nice to meet you Mr Dreams ;)

Paul usually looks intent or worried, those are his default settings. The toad was a bugger to take because he was down in this big ditch with tons of reeds in the way, so the camera kept focussing on the foreground instead of Mr T. Paul managed a good one because he's taller than me! LOL

Lovely pics of the local wildlife. What species is that tall one in the green coat?
That tree certainly is creepy - I could definitely see that morphing into a goblin or something!!

[identity profile] amberdreams.livejournal.com 2016-03-27 09:56 pm (UTC)(link)
The greencoat? It's a lesser spotted Eeyore-Marvin.

Very very pretty pictures!! The nuthatch pic is definitely better than anything the birders get. ♥

[identity profile] amberdreams.livejournal.com 2016-03-27 09:57 pm (UTC)(link)
Ha ha thanks but I doubt it, they were there for hours and had better positions, tripods and lenses the size of mammoth feet! LOL

[identity profile] hugemind.livejournal.com 2016-03-30 08:15 pm (UTC)(link)
Well, they may have the equipment but it's knowing how to use it that brings the results, right? ;) Pfft on their telephoto lenses; you have a great composition and focus, and a very nice shallow depth of field with some lovely soft bokeh. :)

Well thank you very much! :D

I don't think I've ever seen a Nuthatch in the flesh - or feathers! Thanks for sharing your lovely photos :)

[identity profile] amberdreams.livejournal.com 2016-03-30 09:17 pm (UTC)(link)
I've seen one from a distance before but this was less than two metres away, so that was brill!

Nice! Looks like a lovely day.
