Expecting someone taller?

My cousin's new wife has collated all the wedding pics from their marriage celebration a couple of weekends ago, and although I'm dischuffed about how bloody WIDE I am (I really do need to lose a couple of stones) - suddenly I feel quite tall. I mean, what a bunch of short-arses my family is. Ha ha ha!!!

In case you hadn't seen me before, I'm the dork on the end holding a wedding-inappropriate canvas bag with a picture of Castiel on its reverse. At least I remembered to turn it around for the photo...!

Your family all look lovely and happy.

You're lucky to get to feel tall. My brother and his wife are the same height, both just over six feet tall. I am just over five feet tall. I fully expect that this Christmas I will find that niece or nephew or maybe both will have gotten taller than me.

On the other hand, it's useful having the tall people around. Now that both my parents are of an age where they are losing height, our household is on the verge of being collectively incapable of reaching the shelf where the mixing bowls are. We will just have to give up mixing forever.

I have high shelf problems in our house too. Paul puts the chocolate biscuits on the top shelf so I have to get my little stepping stool to reach them, or use the bread knife to poke at them and knock them down. of course I persevere which is why I'm wide. LOL

Damn though, that's not fair, is it. How did your bro get all the inches!

You are not that wide and your canvas bag fits in with the granny's black satchel bag. lol

btw, which is the groom?

[identity profile] amberdreams.livejournal.com 2014-11-25 09:25 am (UTC)(link)
He's the one right in the middle behind his Mum in blue, with the crazy hair. He was gutted he'd had to have it cut for the wedding - though really unless you'd seen it before, you'd never have guessed. But it used to be really long, probably longer than mine.

Lovely family picture - and you have wonderful hair!

I never feel short even though I'm not exactly pushing at the sky at 5'5 (and a half - the half is important) partially because I wear heels most of the time so mentally I feel about 5'8. Unless I stand next to my 6'3 and a half tall brother, then my delusions are shattered.

[identity profile] amberdreams.livejournal.com 2014-11-25 09:27 am (UTC)(link)
ha ha ha fortunately I don't have any siblings to measure up to and everyone in my family tends towards the short side with the exception of my paternal grandfather who was 6 foot. My paternal gran was 4' 11 and always said she was easier to jump over than run round! I'm only 5' 1" (nearly 5' 2" on a good day)

Nonsense; YOU LOOK GREAT. Your dress is super-cute. And LOL, the bag was LESS appropriate with the pic of Castiel?? Well... I guess in SOME circles. ;-)

Ha ha, but the ONE tall guy does look kind of out of place.

[identity profile] amberdreams.livejournal.com 2014-11-25 09:28 am (UTC)(link)
I hate wearing dresses, mainly because I hate wearing shoes - the boots were a compromise.

What a great picture! You look great, your dad appears uninjured and I love your mum's skirt! Also hahaha, to the Castiel bag.... ;)

[identity profile] amberdreams.livejournal.com 2014-11-25 09:29 am (UTC)(link)
Dad has a nice chunky scar in the middle of his forehead here from his last tumble, but we managed to guide him round without incident!

What a big, beautiful family! :D And ahaha at the bag story. Yes, at least it's turned around! ;P

This is mostly my cousin's Dad's side, plus his new wife's Chinese family and friends - the wedding had taken 3 years to sort out due to problems with getting visas, citizenship etc sorted out.

Hahaha I had the same question as Dolnmoon, which one is the groom I LOVE your dress and think you look quite fetching!!

[identity profile] amberdreams.livejournal.com 2014-11-25 09:31 am (UTC)(link)
He's the one right in the middle with the wild hair, who's partially obscured by his Mum's fascinator.

[identity profile] firesign10.livejournal.com 2014-11-25 11:43 am (UTC)(link)
Oops. I guess I thought fascinators were sweaters?? Is it something for your head? *facepalm*

[identity profile] amberdreams.livejournal.com 2014-11-25 12:19 pm (UTC)(link)
I discovered what they were relatively recently - stupid feathery flowery things that perch on your head that I wouldn't be seen dead in.

[identity profile] dear-tiger.livejournal.com 2014-11-25 03:16 am (UTC)(link)
I don't know anything about wide, but those are some badass boots you got :D

[identity profile] amberdreams.livejournal.com 2014-11-25 09:34 am (UTC)(link)
Those boots are good for me because the leg part is kind of stretchy velvet so I can get them on over my chunky calves. I like boots but getting any that are wide enough to fit round a 42cm circumference calf is a nightmare. :D

[identity profile] chomaisky.livejournal.com 2014-11-25 07:33 am (UTC)(link)
Aw, the kids!
Being tall has its own burden! You don't have to stoop all the time :)

[identity profile] amberdreams.livejournal.com 2014-11-25 09:34 am (UTC)(link)
Nope stooping is rarely an issue - and unlike my hubby I don't have to duck in old buildings with beams. ;-)

[identity profile] milly-gal.livejournal.com 2014-11-25 09:32 am (UTC)(link)
You all look lie you're having a great time and are all very dapper! And Prfttttt! Wide, my arse (well actually my arse is wide, lol) you are gorgeous, so stop that! :)

[identity profile] amberdreams.livejournal.com 2014-11-25 09:35 am (UTC)(link)
Ha ha ha wide arses are good for sitting on, it's true.

[identity profile] milly-gal.livejournal.com 2014-11-25 10:57 am (UTC)(link)
Hmmm, my office chair does not agree...there are actual rip marks on it where I sit cross legged and dig my *wide* arse into the leather! LOL!

[identity profile] sw0rdy.livejournal.com 2014-11-25 09:58 am (UTC)(link)
I've come to accept I'm a shortarse. I'm 5'2 but it doesn't help having a husband who's 6'3. I'm just praying the kids take after him rather than me!

[identity profile] amberdreams.livejournal.com 2014-11-25 10:48 am (UTC)(link)
You have a quarter of an inch on me! Mostly I quite like being short, it's just sometimes I'd appreciate a few extra inches...mmm that sounds rude, doesn't it. Ahem.

[identity profile] firesign10.livejournal.com 2014-11-25 11:41 am (UTC)(link)
Bahahaha!!!!

[identity profile] sw0rdy.livejournal.com 2014-11-25 02:14 pm (UTC)(link)
Ha, wouldn't we all? ;)
