Season 9 The Purge insta-reaction

This really is an instant, gut reaction - oh boy. That was depressing.
I did chuckle a bit at some of it in the early parts, but overall, I'm sitting here now, my stomach is hurting and it's not from laughing. The way Sam and Dean are at the moment makes me feel queasy.
That's all.

I'm there with you, sister.

This is so painful, but it also feels very real to me, like stuff people in this much agony would say. I think Sam is not saying "I'd let you die because I don't care" but "I'd let you die in these world saving circumstances if you wanted that because I love you that much."

I want Dean to remind him that he DID do that...bet you he does later. Also bet Sam gets put in the circumstance himself by the end and it ain't so easy.

My gut reaction was that Sam is a selfish cold-hearted bastard! I'm not sure if the writers have forgotten the lengths Sam went to to save Dean in 'Faith' or how he tried to hard to save Dean from hell, or how devastated he was to see Dean die over & over again in 'Mystery Spot. I could go on, but basically I think Sam's character has changed too much and it's getting annoying. As you said, Dean's self-esteem is at an all time low and Sam's words will just hurt him more. His face at the end. so sad! On the plus side Jared looked good in his gym wear and Jensen still managed to look attractive in the hairnet!! Sorry for the ramblings.

Do you know Ash? She has an excellent and nuanced review of the ep that you might want to read. In it, she makes a lot of sense about what Sam's actually saying (and not saying) with his response at the end. It's not locked and it's here.

*sigh* I feel ya, darlin'. GOD, this episode had all the highs and lows that I love. But man, the lows are like a trench filled with half formed cement. I just hope we see Dean dig out before he's wearing cement shoes.

*sigh*

Sam isn't the bad guy, but DANG...they really are making the tough love talks end with hammer blows.
