And what the hell are they going to do in the next one!! After all, the effects weren't instantaneous so what we ended up with at the close might not be the end of the halving of the universe.... if you see what I mean. Don't want to say too much. LOL
I'd guess that they're going to be able to reverse most of it somehow. There are some pretty powerful characters in the Marvel universe that we haven't seen in the movies yet and that might be able to help with that kind of thing.
Or maybe Thanos himself will reverse things with the time stone once he realises there's not much point in a universe where he's all alone and loveless...
See, this is the thing that I never get about super-villains. What's the point in killing and destroying everyone and everything? Then you're left ruling a bunch of nothing. Where's the fun in that??
Well Thanos reckoned he was doing it for the good of everyone to give them all better lives and it wasn't to necessarily rule any one so when the results aren't panning out, maybe he'll reconsider the sacrifices he made to get there.
Ah, well, I'm not really a fan of the MCU. I've watched pretty much all of the movies but I'm only truly invested in a couple of the characters, and I can't say I've paid much attention to Thanos' motivations.
Anyway, I do think that a lot of the stuff that happened in this movie won't stick. Something or someone is going to put things right again. There might still be casualties, but it won't be as widespread as what we got here. It's interesting to note that two of the characters that I was sure were going to die in this one ended up surviving, so they might die in the next one while saving everyone else.
Aye you could be right there. The rumours I'd heard beforehand revolved around Marvel effectively clearing out a whole bunch of the older, established actors in order to bring in a younger set - which was actually being parodied in the Deadpool trailer ahead of the Avengers! LOL
I'm going on Tuesday. Was looking forward to it, but then Cam called me at work yesterday to tell me a bucket load of spoilers he'd heard I couldn't shut him up he was so pissed off.
He doesn't know if he wants to see it anymore. I am going on Tuesday but I wish I didn't know what I know. Though I am happy there is a sequel next year
There were a couple people in the theatre who shouted at the end, like it couldn't end there. But it's obvious that this isn't the end. (You just have to look at Marvel/Disney's schedule of MCU releases to know that Infinity War isn't complete.)
My biggest question (asked even while watching and enjoying) is why didn't someone just cut his hand off? They had him pinned several times, and the Iron Man suit has lasers that can cut through space ships, it should certainly cut through bone. Even if they gave some BS reason as to why it didn't work, they should've at least tried.
Other than that, I liked it very much. I thought the pacing was well done, with enough time spent on developing the characters so that it wasn't just one long fight with CG explosions and no humanity.
yes, I thought the same thing about chopping the hand/arm off but yeah, if they'd done that there'd be no sequel next year, right?
And I hadn't realised just how many more films they have in the pipeline right now. Even though some are set before Infinity Wars which will confuse me. I'm easily confused.
