Fanfic podcast - don't judge. :D

My hubby has been listening to this podcast series about imaginary worlds and the other night there was one about fanfiction. He now has a better understanding of what I've been doing for the last eight years or so! LOL!

Link to podcast - you can stream if you'd rather not download it. One of the women he's chatting to is a co-founder of AO3.

That's kinda bloody cool, though. I forget how lucky I am with Steve and Mum and a lot of my RL (I hate that term) friends. They've known for a very long time what it is I do, have put up with me reeling off excerpts and don't judge, or if they do they keep it to their own self! lol. It's lovely he now knows what you've been doing. I gave Steve the benefit of the doubt very early on and just told him the shit I was writing, I think a lot of partners, male and female, would be okay with it if we gave them chance.

Thanks for the link xx

Oh, I've been telling him all about it from the start, but I think there was still part of him that thought it was just me and a couple of my friends doing it, not an international phenomenon. LOL

*GRINS* I love that, I bet his face was an absolute picture. Steve's always got that part, he finds that kinda awesome. So when he and I do something and put it on here of FB he says to his other friends, "That went across the world, there are people in JAPAN who've seen my silly faces or our cat or Milly's art." He gets quite proud, lol.

Cool series! How have I never seen this? Listening to the episode now.

Little FYT: the Britta Lundin they mention--who currently writes for Riverdale--has a YA book coming out in the spring, "Ship It", which sounds suspiciously like Jensen's "Destiel doesn't exist" pronouncement at that one con (I forget which). Not overwhelmed by her fictionalization of the situation, tho of course I haven't read the book. Sounds like she totally throws him and the show under the bus. Nice. (No surprise, she's a Destiel shipper.)

I'm also a little pinched that they denigrate Wincest shippers. (I can't tell one woman's voice from the next, so I have no idea who's talking.) Look, if you're gonna advocate having shippers listening to your podcast, how about not piss 'em off? LOL...

Yes, that last bit was a bit, shall we say - judgy? I've read fanfics about J2 being forced to depict Wincest for fan service, though of course that was a mechanism to get the two of them to realised they wanted to bonk each other all along.

Oh and Jensen definitely said that about Destiel at a JIB and got a cheer from 99% of the room.

Were you there? You always go to JIB, so I bet you were...

(Looking back at the dates, I'd love to see Lundin's "Ship It" screenplay that she eventually based her novel on. I'm guessing it looked a bit different.)

I'm also wondering if there are any queer characters on Riverdale! Anyone watch it? (I'm just too long-in-the-tooth for all that teen angst.)

i was there, and I might well have cheered too LOL. I'd never heard of Riverdale before this so I've no clue!

It's on the CW, based (loosely) on the Archie comics. Ratings: just below SPN and just above Arrow.

Oh right - well if it's another teen thing I wouldn't bother. Things have to be seriously good for me to bother downloading them. I'm happy watching Lucifer on Amazon and SPN on iTunes, other than that, the only programmes I watch regularly at the moment are The Last Leg and Have I Got News for You. I don't seem to have time for telly any more!

That sounds interesting, I'll listen to it later, thanks for the link. And it's good that it's given Paul a better understanding of it :)
