Warnings: Spoilers for Season 9 Episode 5
Summary: Being a dog isn’t so bad, but it could give rise to some embarrassing situations...

Awkward moment #1.
When Dean realises his knees have turned into melted taffy and one of his legs is twitching uncontrollably because Sam’s found that spot just there behind his ear, and is absently scratching an itch Dean didn’t even know he had.
Awkward moment #2.
When Sam realises the short hairs prickling his fingertips as he scratches something furry belong to his brother not Colonel.
Awkward moment #3.
When Colonel tells Dean in graphic detail how much fun it is to lick your own gonads, and Dean wishes he’d taken more notice when Lisa tried to teach him yoga.

Summary: Sam gets to thinking in the wake of Dean’s canine encounter.

It’s funny, of course it is.
Dean fetching that screwed-up paper out of the trash, sticking his head out of the Impala’s window, sniffing the breeze with the biggest grin on his face Sam’s seen since Dean emerged after his first night with his beloved memory foam mattress? It’s fucking hilarious.
But Sam can’t help thinking.
How Dean’s like a dog in other, more fundamental ways.
His loyalty, selfless courage; his childlike pleasure-seeking pursuits.
His ability to round up the people he loves and bring them together.
Which was why letting Cas leave? It prickles Sam’s skin with its wrongness.
