What ISIS/ISIL wants

This is a long article and takes some time to read and absorb, but it's really thought provoking. Where the conclusions drawn here about ISIS lie, in the light of ISIS claiming responsibiliity for the Paris attrocities, I'm not sure, but if 90% of this is correct, it actually gives me a little hope. In my experience the Atlantic is an excellent source. Left-leaning, but well researched. In this case I think it's valuable as an alternate interpretation to the conventional. The interviews are fascinating. Even if the subjects aren't actual authorities on IS, again - it's an alternate perspective to what I'm seeing everywhere else.

Anyway, thank you again. Good stuff. <3

I'd not come across this one before - I might try pointing my US friends towards it. Though given that they are all what I'd call ultra conservative, they'd probably loathe it.
