Who is this?

I'm going to the London Film & Comic Con on Saturday and am getting an autograph from a certain actor - so I thought I'd try using the new pastels on coloured paper techniques to create something for him to sign. But, dear flisties, does this look enough like him to ask him to sign it?
All concrit gratefully received.


If it is recognisable and not too awful, I'll use this. If it needs tweaking I can have a go. If it's not good enough I'll start again. The colours haven't photographed quite right, this makes it look like there's a lot of white on his face that isn't so glaring on the drawing. (I think/hope).

I admit that I needed the firefly tag. Guess the angle makes it a bit difficult? But I'm sure he will like it. (Also totally jealous as I would love to meet him)

I'm pretty sure I know which photo was your base, so I guess the eyes could use a little tweaking and the jaw? Both are pretty specific on him so it could make it easier to recognize him (Obviously I wouldn't even come close to your result if I ever tried drawing him, so this is just me trying to add constructive criticism, not ditching what you accomplished)

I failed on the angle I think... Maybe I should try again as I've still got a few days! Though, yes the chin is too long and I could fix that.
Yes I'm looking forward to meeting him - I splashed out on a diamond pass for him so I get a photo, auto and a seat in his panel. \0/

Mostly, I think it's the nose that's off. The strong highlight down the middle makes his nose look pointier instead of rounded. Likewise, the tip of his nose needs a little more meat too :)

Regarding the chin, I think the contrast between the shadow under his lip and the highlight on his chin is a little strong. And the highlight is a bit high position-wise.

Besides that, everything else looks great! I love the blend of colors, his hair, and those big soulful eyes :D

I've checked it in photoshop and I overcompensated for my usual fault of making people's noses too long by making his too short! LOL It's a bummer because it throws everything else out. I think I'm going to have another try tomorrow, see if I can improve the likeness - thanks!

Heh heh - I think I've worked out what's wrong with it now though - thanks to Kat and siennavie. Nose isn't long enough - and it's not often you'll hear me say that! I over compensated because I usually do the nose too long. Doh!

Aw thanks. I've done another version now, just need to decide it either are good enough to get signed. How's your head - are you fully recovered from the fainting concussion?
