It's been a while... and I've missed a few weeks of classes due to holidays.

Last week we were doing accumulation of layers, so we were supposed to experiment with collage, layers of paint, different surfaces and suchlike. Steve the tutor calls it akoomoolation. His accent slays me!
The white is actually correction fluid which was very runny and hard to control. I kind of liked the little fish though (gouache and Micron fine liner)

This week was about patterns and repetition, and you never know, I might even get round to finishing this one off sometime too. The owl is biro and the tree is done with the Micron 0.45mm fine liner.

This isn't from our class, it's a teaser for something yet to come...

And as a reward for sticking with me, I found an unattributed gif which is hilarious - kudos to whoever made it! LOL!

Oooh!! I really love that first one! The layerings you introduced to the piece work so well. O____O I really, really love that. Would love to see more, if that's a style you enjoyed playing with!

I wouldn't go as far as saying I enjoyed it...but I might enjoy it if I got more used to playing with it... I have another page with some brown paper and torn up book (meep!) so that is sitting there waiting for something to be done to it at some point. I felt obliged to read those torn pages before sticking them down to make up for the fact my art teacher had vandalised a BOOK!

Great post, Amber! I (more or less) envy everyone who can draw or paint - you're all geniuses! Anyway: I sense a J2/S&D cowboy story/art heading our way, since the guy in the last pic looks a lot like our lovely Dean Winchester ;) Am I right? And thank you so much for the additional gif - it's truly hilarious, especially Dean's reaction to Sam's pec twitch XD

Ooh, so are you taking art classes right now? All three of those are awesome--I'm in love with the fishies, the intricate line work, and the posture in the teaser sketch.

Yep I've done 3 terms now, Creative Sketchbooking. He's not teaching us to draw or any specific techniques as such, he's doing stuff to get us to use the sketch book as a place to experiment and try stuff out - so it's very challenging for little unadventurous me! I'm doing life drawing sessions too - it's been good to get me out and keep me using traditional media instead of sneaking back to Photoshop because it's safer. LOL

That is absolutely superb! You are already such a talented artist that an experimental course sounds perfect for further exploring and expanding on your amazing drawing skills. And that's a genius using the life drawing to force yourself to use traditional media (which I adore!)--you definitely can't rely on Photoshop there!

I really love that top piece. The layers give is such a 'pop' effect, it jumps out at you! :) The others are gorgeous too but the last one is uber gorgeous!

P.S it's telling me your gif page doesn't exist O.o
